As the ground thaws,
and snows melt,
and green things come
back to the land,
springs into being.
Made from Fresh Lemon,
Green Rooibos, and
100% Wildflower Honey,
it’s brewed one day a year
and is probably the world’s
most refreshing mead.
This year has been full of tremendous happenings around the meadery.
We built a Mead Hall within our current space, started serving food, released the final year-round offerings from Havoc Mead, completed the transition to cans for all of our products, doubled our staff, sponsored Vermont's first Renaissance Faire, and much more.
So, could 2017 even compare? You bet your hornless helmet it can.
If that's not enough, you should know that we're keeping our biggest surprise under our belt for now... more details coming soon.
Ricky the Meadmaker loves you very, very much.
Of course, Ricky the Meadmaker loves you each and every day of the year, but he gets so full of joy and affection during the holidays that he can barely contain himself.
So, to keep Ricky from exploding with pure excitement, we let him come up with a gift for you every week between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This year, that means that you get Five Special Presents.
And, even better, it all starts this Friday!
Week 1 (November 25th and 26th) - Every year on Black Friday we treat our Meadiacs to a First Taste of Winter Warmer, our seasonal Wassail! This year, to sweeten the deal, we're also releasing our Seasonal Collectible Mugs which come with a $1 pour of Winter Warmer!
Week 2 (December 2nd and 3rd) - We're hosting an Indoor Cornhole Championship with prizes and special drinks!
Week 3 (December 10th) - It's our biggest bash of the year, Midwinter Fest! Live music, Viking buffet, bonfires, the works!
Week 4 (December 16th and 17th) - Not to be outdone by Havoc Mead's All Female Comedy Show on Dec. 16th, Ricky is releasing a batch of Mannaz on Lees, his three-year-old mead. Are they going to be snow-packed for an unparalleled, almost surreal drinking experience? Yes. Yes they are.
Week 5 (December 23rd) - Treat yourself and loved ones to our amazing Viking Hanukkah Dinner! That's right; Ricky is making a complete Hanukkah Meal with all Viking-era ingredients. We recommend getting reservations for this one by calling us at 802-497-2345.
Snow! We had snow in the mountains! You know what that means? Winter is almost here!
And, of course, Winter Warmer can't be far behind!
As usual, we're going to save our release as a Black Friday treat. But, if you absolutely can't wait to get your hands on some Wassail, we'll announce in the coming weeks which bars have a sneak peek for you.
On November 1st, a handful of kegs will be released into the wild. You'll be able to find Winter Warmer at a few select bars, restaurants, and growler stations throughout Vermont.
Harvest Fest is THIS SATURDAY, September 24th from 11:30-8 and we are SO excited!
Let's review why this is going to be the greatest event of your Autumn:
So get excited! Are you excited? Not as excited as we are!
To learn more, check out our Facebook event!
Things have been a little hectic at Groennfell Meadery with Erik from Havoc leaving, the new restaurant opening up, and, y'know, all those things it takes to keep a meadery running.
So, instead of brewing a big batch of Autumn Spice Mead, Ricky has made a bold decision:
He's releasing his special, personal keg of Aged Autumn Spice at Harvest Festival.
That's right, every time Ricky brews a batch of a seasonal mead, a keg is set aside for a special occasion. For the first time ever, he's decided to crack one of these kegs at an event.
The only way to get a glass of Autumn Spice Mead until next fall will be to come to The Harvest Festival at Colchester's Mead Hall on September 24th.
There will be no growlers, only glasses available, and when it's gone it's gone.

Groennfell Meadery is Vermont’s premier craft meadery. Inspired by Old Norse legends, brewed with extraordinary ingredients, Groennfell’s meads are unlike anything you’ve had before. Crisp, clean, and astoundingly drinkable, the only way to explain any one of Groennfell’s meads is to try one yourself.
