Have you ever thought to yourself, "I love Ask the Meadmaker on YouTube, but boy, I wish it were an hour long and, ideally, a bit grainier?" If so, then do we have great news for you! The whiz kids over at Craft Beer Marketing Institute did a great interview with Ricky the other day all about our philosophy of marketing. You can watch it below! If you don't want to watch the whole episode, (though you really, really ought to), basically our philosophy boils down to this: "Tell a great story, make no enemies, and try to build community in everything you do."
In which Ricky the Meadmaker answers questions about the difference between brewing craft mead and honey wine, what to do to prevent "gushers," what temperature is best for aging mead, the dangers of using cold-brewed tea in mead, and more! It finally happened! Colchester's Mead Hall is fully up-and-running and serving food!
To mark this tremendous occasion, we're throwing Feast Weekend on August 12th and 13th. For the next few weeks, we're going to be serving a small menu of items like our local bratwurst, then for the big day, we're going to pull out all the stops: Mead brats, hunks of cheese, pork belly... everything a Viking would sail 3,800 miles to get his hands on. What could be better than that? How about being one of the first people on earth to drink Havoc Mead's most anticipated mead of all time: Fire-Drake Still not enough? How about brand new Mead Hall steins? A 40-foot outdoor Feast Table? Bragging Rights for the rest of your days? That's what we thought. Like (almost) all of our events, Feast Weekend is family friendly! Call today to make a reservation: 802-497-2345 Or, stop by the Mead Hall to reserve your seat! We are all Viking Nerds around this place. But, it turns out, we pale in comparison to the true Viking Nerds.
Did you know that some people devoted their time, money, and energy to creating an extraordinary game called: Don't Fall in the Mead Hall? Don't feel bad! We didn't either until our friends over at Ale Horn put us on to it! They absolutely love the game, so we thought we order in a few to play here at the Mead Hall. Ours will be arriving soon, but if you absolutely can't wait, head over to their site and order your own! In their words, "In Don’t Fall in the Mead Hall, players emulate a host of Vikings drinking the night away in a mead hall. Although drinking while playing is encouraged, this is more of a party game with a fair share of strategy than it is a straight-up drinking game." We are SO freakin' excited! In which Ricky the Meadmaker answers questions about over-feeding yeast, making the jump from homebrewer to pro, force carbonation, and creating a sweet, syrupy mead. Plus, he puts a question to you: How do you add your fruit when you make melomels? Send your answers and experimental data to meadmaker@groennfell.com! Colchester's Mead Hall is now serving a limited menu! Full menu and grand opening of the restaurant coming soon!

BlogGroennfell Meadery is Vermont’s premier craft meadery. Inspired by Old Norse legends, brewed with extraordinary ingredients, Groennfell’s meads are unlike anything you’ve had before. Crisp, clean, and astoundingly drinkable, the only way to explain any one of Groennfell’s meads is to try one yourself.
